Why researchers use myocr.app

Built to handle the table layouts that break generic OCR tools.

Multi-row headers, merged cells, spanning columns — handled correctly, not flattened.

Units and notation preserved

Scientific notation, units, ± error margins, footnote markers kept as-is.

Multi-column papers

Two-column journal layouts parsed without mixing table content across columns.

GDPR compliant

EU servers, files deleted after 30 minutes. No data used for AI training.

Who uses research table extraction

Anyone who needs data out of published PDFs.

PhD students & postdocs

Extract data from prior literature for meta-analyses and systematic reviews.

Data analysts

Pull benchmark tables from technical reports into analysis pipelines.

Systematic reviewers

Build evidence tables from dozens of papers without manual transcription.

Journalists & fact-checkers

Extract figures from government and institutional PDF reports.

What gets extracted from research tables

Table structure preserved for direct import into statistical software.

Column headers

Including multi-row and grouped headers, mapped to Excel columns.

Numeric values

Extracted as numbers — decimals, scientific notation, percentages.

Units & error margins

Units, ± margins, confidence intervals preserved in adjacent cells.

Footnote markers

Superscript references and footnote symbols kept linked to values.

Table caption

Caption and table number captured as sheet metadata.

Common questions about research table extraction

Does it handle multi-row table headers?

Yes. Complex headers with grouped or spanning columns are mapped correctly into Excel rather than flattened into a single confusing row.

Can it extract tables from two-column journal PDFs?

Yes. The OCR detects two-column journal layouts and extracts tables without mixing content across the page columns.

Are scientific notation and units preserved?

Yes. Values like 1.2×10⁻⁴, units (mg/L, kPa), and ± error margins are kept intact in the Excel output.

What about scanned or old papers?

Scanned PDFs and older papers work too. Accuracy depends on scan quality — clean scans give 99%, faded ones 90-95%.

Is my unpublished research safe?

Yes. Files are on EU servers, deleted after 30 minutes, never used for AI training. Fully GDPR compliant.
